Alpine feelings rarely arise in the Black Forest. The contemplative low mountain range generally impresses with its gentle, hilly meadows and forests. But there are also places here where good footwear, surefootedness and a head for heights are particularly important.
One of the most beautiful areas of this kind is the Karlsruher Grat near Ottenhöfen, which can easily compete with high mountain via ferratas and is even more attractive as a destination due to the connection with the wild and romantic waterfalls of the nearby Gottschläge valley.
